I’m taking a train from Paris to Milan and then Milan to Bologna to meet up with the band. It’s a pretty long train ride but for me it beats taking the bus to Beauvais, then standing in a bunch of lines and taking off all my clothes to be searched by security so I can wait some more and finally get on a plane and then land way out in the middle of somewhere else. The train goes from the center of Paris to the center of Bologna and that’s pretty hard to beat. And apparently it’s better for the environment, too.

I’ve gotten a lot of reading done and the trip is great and relaxing except for the little voice in the back of my head saying, “you are going to be late and you will not make your 10 minute connection to the next train.” I think my little voice is also saying things like “make some money, you loser” and “what are you doing with your life?” but that’s another story. Anyway, the train is indeed late and I jump off the train in Milan and run like the wind carrying my 500 lbs. of ridiculous musical equipment. Luckily, I make the train with 1 minute to spare. Luckily for others as well, because they’ve decided to delay this train 30 minutes so my running was for naught. Better to run and look like a crazy person than to not run and have to sit on the train for the same amount of time. Or something like that.
